Earning $1 per day from a blog through adsense won't be a difficult task if you will be able to deliver content on them on a day by day basis. And ya, you should be promoting it a bit – at the same time. Doing all these things may feel a bit untidy. But believe me, its worth every minute that you will be spending on your blogging sites. After a month or two, you will be with the required cash to hire professionals to do these things for you.
